British Columbia, CanadaThe latest FB Meritage release is the best yet, which reflects its attachment to an excellent red wine vintage in the Okanagan, and better winemaking. In 2020 the blend was 65/18/17/ merlot, cabernet sauvignon, and cabernet franc, each fermented and aged separately in a mix of seasoned 50/50 French and American oak barrels. You immediately sense the balance from its attractive swirl of red fruits and subtle vanilla to an attack that is round and silky full of plums, cassis, cranberry, cherries that melt slowly into a long finish. Well done and ready to drink (or hold).
