Fort Berens Meritage 2019

British Columbia, CanadaBy definition, a Meritage wine is a blend of Bordeaux grapes. At least for now, climate change could disrupt the Bordeaux mix down the road, but that is another story. At Fort Berens, the 88/11/1 blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, and cabernet franc is fermented and aged separately for 15 months in used French and American oak. The nose and entry are slightly rustic on the palate, with meaty, spicy black cherry dusted in dark cocoa powder and spice. The tannins are still youthful but not too dry. They will require more time to settle in. For the moment, you could serve this with a piece of Reggiano, Bolognese pasta, or beef tacos.Tasted: 29 November 2021Tasted by: Prices:
