Fort Berens Meritage 2013
British Columbia, CanadaDeep, dark cassis, resin and brooding spice opens this Lillooet blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc. Herbal notes, cedar spice, roasted coffee, a kiss of sweet spice and thorns join in on the full palate, one kept fresh with an upswell of black cherry acidity, but anchored by slightly grippy, ripe tannins and a kick of heat on the finish, courtesy of the 14.5 percent alcohol. Appealing rusticity, good depth of flavour, without being overdone.Tasted: 28 October 2015Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $22.99 | 750ml | winery direct, VQA and private wine shops |
