Fort Berens Meritage 2020
British Columbia, CanadaFrom fruit sources around BC, this year's Meritage blends 65% merlot with 18% cabernet franc, and 17% cabernet sauvignon. Each was vinified separately, and rested in 50/50 American / French barrels for 15 months prior to the blend. Ripe and sweet-tinged blackberry jam, cassis compote, dark earth rule the medium palate, with bitter tobacco and baking spice to season. Tannins are chewy, finishing with more bitter espresso notes.
