Burrowing Owl Meritage 2018

Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe 2018 Meritage is a 37/28/22/10/3/ mix of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc, petit verdot, and malbec. Each is kept separate for 15 months in a mix of 85% new oak from France, Hungary, and the USA. The best barrels make it to bottle. At 14.5% alcohol, it is rich enough to get your attention and it has a sense of freshness that balances the wine, although the oak is heavy-handed and tends to rule the flavour profile for the moment. Many will be fine with this edition. I will wait three to five years to pass final judgement. I do know it tends to age well most years.Tasted: 02 February 2022Tasted by: Prices:
