Burrowing Owl Meritage 2015

Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada2015 was a warm year, the warmest on record in the Okanagan, and this big red meritage well absorbs the southern desert heat. Burrowing Owl thinks ahead, or rather, behind, holding back these big reds for an extra year before release, which is always beneficial for the consumer, but a sizeable investment for the winery. Medincial cherry, wild blackberries, thorns on a brooding, dusky palate, one lined with graphite, tobacco, eucalypt, dark chocolate, and pencil lead. Tannins are plumped and plush, cushioning the black fruit to a soft, sage-dusted landing. This weighted red, nearing 15 degrees alcohol, feels its 2015.Tasted: 19 October 2018Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
