Burrowing Owl Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis is rich wine from the colour to the finish. The nose is mostly cassis with roasted red pepper and desert scrub streaks. The palate is warm, round, spicy, and loaded with black fruit, mostly blackcurrant this year, and some dark baking chocolate. Given the growing seasons and wildfires, it has emerged mostly unscathed. Drink or hold, either way, this will remain a fire grilled steak wine. The grapes were harvested by hand from estate vineyards in Oliver and Osoyoos in the last half of October. High temperatures and dry conditions in 2021 led to smaller than average berry sizes, bunch weights, and total phenolic ripeness early on. After fermentation, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in barrels, followed by 18 months of aging in oak.Tasted: 08 July 2024Tasted by: Prices:
