Burrowing Owl Merlot 2019

Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe 2019 Merlot comes off estate vineyards in Oliver and Osoyoos, and finished fermentation in barrels, where it remained for 16 months' rest (64% French, 18% Hungarian, 18% American, with 20% new). It was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Ripe and plush, like full-throttle merlot should be, this leads with deep plum, cassis, tightened with an herbaceous branchiness, and scented with toasted cedar. Tannins are ample and a bit ragged, needing a roast beef or hearty cottage pie to match at this stage.Tasted: 12 March 2022Tasted by: Prices:
