Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaOsoyoos Larose continues to hit it out of the park with Le Grand Vin, a dominant merlot blend at 61.4 percent filled out with 14 percent cabernet franc, 12 percent cabernet sauvignon, 7.6 percent petit verdot, and 5 percent malbec. The wine is rich and full-bodied from front to back with a plush midpalate of blue and black fruits covered in a dense jacket of fine grained tannins. It is a savoury, complex, youthful red that reminds me a bit of some Bolgheri blends. It is amazing at this point but far from its ultimate potential. The price is extremely fair for the quality, and my advice is to stock up. It has a long history of going the distance and getting better and better in the bottle. Well done.Tasted: 11 May 2021Tasted by: Prices:
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaMerlot dominant, with plush black cherries, blackberries, on a velvet palate, structured via the cabernets, and raging with chewy tannins. The fruit is very ripe and dense, with ample impact and intensity at this youthful stage, and will reward with time in the cellar. Le Grand Vin has certainly grown into its name, and is perennially one of BC's top reds.
