Osoyoos Larose 2018

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaOsoyoos Larose is owned by Bordeaux's Groupe Taillan, and this, Le Grand Vin, feels firmly French influenced, while having grown up very Okanagan. The 2018 blends 64.9% merlot, 14.2% cabernet sauvignon, 12.7% cabernet franc, 5.2% petit verdot, and 3% malbec into this savoury, full red, one striated with herbaceous green notes, making me wonder about picking dates in this hot, smoke affected vintage. Tart blackberry, black cherry, espresso is taut with a bitter black currant, and hugged with sticky tannins through a warming amply smoked spice hickory finish. Certainly needs grilled beef, lamb, root veg to tame at this time. Not the first 2018 smoked out red from Okanagan I have encountered.Tasted: 22 January 2023Tasted by: Prices:
