Osoyoos Larose 2016
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWow, wow, wow. When the merlot is over 60 percent in this wine, it has always looked better, and this year the 62.5/12.5/11.8/7.7/5.5 blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, petit verdot, and malbec is one of the best yet. The original single vineyard red in BC has nailed the 2016 vintage, with texture, dense ripe tannins, and a smooth, stylish structure that portends much more in the future. It has all the parts: red cherries, stony gravels, floral notes, and a broad swipe of south Okanagan garrigue. The balance is already in place and will serve this red blend for the next twenty years. Osoyoos Larose is fully owned by Groupe Taillan out of Bordeaux.Tasted: 11 March 2020Tasted by: Prices:BC | $47.99 | 750ml | BCLS |
