Penfolds Grange Hermitage Bin 95 Shiraz 1999

South Australia, AustraliaRich vanilla cream, peppery, cola, blackberry, pencil lead, mocha, roasted pepper nose with some saddle leather, Christmas pudding and clove. Rich, concentrated, tight palate but somewhat alcoholic too at 14.5 per cent. Very peppery, spicy, mocha, cola, blackberry flavours with a long licorice, vanilla, Christmas pudding finish. A bit tight and acidic at this point and very young with some leanness. Needs 5-7 more years to smooth out and integrate. Not as total as the previous vintage but still an excellent effort.Tasted: 05 May 2004Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
