Antinori Pian delle Vigne Brunello di Montalcino 2017

Montalcino, Siena, Tuscany, ItalyThere is never any rush to drink Brunello, and especially Pian delle Vigne, which has been sculpted like that since the beginning of 1995. In 2017, it was awash in espresso, dried herbs, violets, and perfectly ripe black cherry that jumped from the glass. The story carries on with a full, fruity entry, a rich infrastructure, and plenty of tannins to go the distance. There is richness and finesse all wrapped in one long, persistent finish streaked with a hint of bitter chocolate and balsamic notes. Steak, anyone? 2017 was a warm, dry season yielding small berries and intense flavours. After only 12 days on the skins, the fermented wine goes to oak barrels ranging in size from 30 to 80 hl for a 24 month stay. It was then bottled and aged for lengthy period at the winery before release.Tasted: 12 May 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
