Antinori Pian delle Vigne Brunello di Montalcino 2004

Montalcino, Siena, Tuscany, ItalyA normal spring and an excellent summer led to a very good harvest in Brunello at the Pian delle Vigne estate some 6 kilometres south of Montalcino. The name stems from a 19th century railway station still in use on the estate. Classically aromatic and perfumed with sweet vanilla and black cherries. I love the silky textures and showy ripe fruit of what is the new style of Brunello. Elegant but with power and slippery, well managed tannins. Very easy to like now but will keep a decade and more.Tasted: 16 October 2009Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
