Meyer Family Vineyards Pinot Noir McLean Creek Road Vineyard 2018

Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaOne of Canada's pinot noir and chardonnay specialists, this is from their home estate McLaren Creek Road Vineyard, and its steep gravelly / sandy loams. Pommard and Dijon clones from 3 blocks go into this wine, meant to capture the home estate. This was destemmed, cold soaked and native fermented before aging 11 months in French oak (25% new). The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Black cherry, dark raspberry, sarsaparilla, toasted wood is seasoned with nutmeg and cedar boughs, finishing with a warm flush. This is a young wine, and shows it, with some exuberant teenage knees and elbows, but with a little time in bottle to settle, it will mature quite nicely. That said, this is drinking well now, especially with duck or wild mushroom dishes, and with a light chill.Tasted: 17 February 2020Tasted by: Prices:
