Meyer Family Vineyards Pinot Noir-Old Block McLean Creek Vineyard 2018

Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaFrom one of the original vineyard plantings at their Okanagan Falls estate McLean Creek Road Vineyard (planted 1994), this is an unknown clone. The fruit was destemmed and cold soaked before a native ferment and transfer to French oak (30% new) for 11 months, before the wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Silken and long on the palate, this is harmonized with black cherry, raspberry, forest berries and earthy dark plum. The wood is there, but in the background, like a nightshade, framing the dark, expansive core. The finish lingers with sweet spices and perfumed purple florals, along with a flush of warmth. Drinking very well now with decanting, but will reward with cellaring.Tasted: 17 February 2020Tasted by: Prices:
