Meyer Family Vineyards Pinot Noir McLean Creek Road Vineyard 2019

Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaOne of Canada's pinot noir and chardonnay specialists, this is from Meyer's home estate McLaren Creek Road Vineyard, and its steep gravelly / sandy loams. Pommard (91) and Dijon (114, 115, 667, 777) clones from 3 blocks go into this wine, meant to capture the home estate. This was destemmed, cold soaked, and native fermented before aging 11 months in French oak (25% new). The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered. This captures Dijon's pinot perfume, with fragrant plum, raspberry, and fragrant cherry blossoms floating atop a wild plum, boysenberry, and sarsaparilla base. The cedar wood spicing is present, striding and structuring the wine, as are long, lightly grippy / sticky tannins to a slight warming flush finish. Drinking well now, in youth, but this friendly wine can spend a couple of years in your cellar easily.Tasted: 19 May 2021Tasted by: Prices:
