Penfolds Shiraz Bin 128 2003
Coonawarra, South Australia, AustraliaThe Bin 128 is a Penfolds anomaly, thanks to its single region Coonawarra origin and French oak barrels. In '03 its a peppery, spicy, black licorice, savoury, affair with vanilla, coffee, black olive aromas with bits of leather. It's round, dry and somewhat tight on the palate with light, dry tannins. Similar smoky, resiny, earthy, black olive, blueberry, mineral flavours mark the palate with some vanilla and sour cherry on the finish. Sound but acidity and tannins are a bit stark. Like the '02 vintage, it is not up to past efforts.Tasted: 20 August 2007Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $36.00 | 750ml | specialty listing |
