Painted Rock Merlot 2021

Skaha Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada2021 was an inconsistent year for some producers, and generally, the terroir lost out to the weather that tossed some intensive events at BC growers. In this case, a first-ever heat dome and ongoing drought reduced the regional yields and bumped up alcohol. This merlot clocks in at 15.1 percent with plenty of dried black cherries, a touch of raisins, and some smoky notes in the finish. The texture is merlot soft, and the flavours are more baked than fresh this year. Full-bodied and rich, this is ready to drink now while it still has some youthful notes, but the dry back end suggests you might want to drink it up over the next six months to a year.Tasted: 21 September 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
