Painted Rock Merlot 2022

Skaha Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe 2002 vintage suits Painted Rock's Bordeaux-style reds, particularly the merlot. A cool start delayed everything, but as the season progressed, warmth arrived and the wine ripened with little trouble, though it is a little less plush and a little more structured. The attack is dry, with spicy black cherry and black plum fruit leading the way. The tannins are rich and will need time to settle, but for the moment this is a wine to serve with grilled meats to smooth out the edges. Best to hold through 2028.Tasted: 21 May 2026Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
