Sonoma County, California, United StatesRodney Strong planted his first cabernet sauvignon over 50 years ago at Alexander's Crown, on a small hill in Jimtown. Today, the vineyard mix stretches from Jimtown to Geyserville and north to Cloverdale. The soils are a mix of well-drained alluvial, volcanic, and uplifted shale / sandstone soils that are seemingly very receptive to cabernet roots. It's classic modern Sonoma cabernet with juicy, fresh black fruit with a floral undercurrent, perfectly measured oak, and soft, slippery, dense tannins.
