Ruffino Chianti Classico Riserva Ducale (Tan Label) 2011

Tuscany, ItalyA nice jump up in quality after the 2010 with a bright floral, cherry jam, meaty, spicy, peppery nose flecked with chocolate, tobacco and licorice root. Round, dry, fresh, supple palate with light, smooth tannins. Spicy, peppery, cherry, smoky, light meat, tobacco and ash flavours with a touch of vanilla. Well balanced and elegant with solid fruit core and some tannins to shed. Needs another two to five years in bottle to reach its peak. The Riserva Ducale mixes 80 per cent sangiovese with 20 per cent cabernet sauvignon and merlot. Total skin contact last about 20 days before it is aged for twenty four months in 40/80 hl. oak barrels, stainless-steel and concrete vats.Tasted: 18 May 2015Tasted by: Prices:
