Quails' Gate Stewart Family Reserve Chardonnay 2013

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Family Reserve has been tweaked by new winemaker Nikki Callaway making what has been an excellent wine even better. Traditionally richer and more exotic the wood has been toned down and the fruit, butterscotch and spice amped up. Most of the fruit is clone 95 planted on 1996 on Mount Boucherie Bench. The juice was settled in stainless steel overnight then run to barrel for four months for both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation before a further six months on yeast lees. The result is an opulent white with creamy textures, bright fruit and a smoky complexity. Should age easily to 2020. Lobster is the match.Tasted: 03 January 2015Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
