Burrowing Owl Syrah 2010

Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaBOV uses a mix of oak (40 percent new) to tame its estate grown syrah, the barrels hail from France, the USA and Russia. The first of two cool years the wine has more of northern Rhone bent with slightly less filing mid-palate. There is still that smoky, savoury liquorice with bits of roasted coffee bean and leather. The attack is dry, lean and spicy with black olive, tobacco and blackberry fruit flavours with a lean, youthful hard finish. The blance if fine and it will improve in bottle over the next five years. Try this with roast lamb or grilled lamb chops for best effect. Tasted: 25 January 2014Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
