Château d'Yquem 1945
Sauternes, Graves, Bordeaux, FranceThe bottled was recently purchased in St. Emilion. An amazingly strong vintage at this point with fabulous fruit and great deal of complexity. A huge wine with big acidity and sugar that will keep it alive for decades. Complexity is more important than fruit at this stage in what is a beautifully balanced bottle. A slightly toned down version of the '47 with a little less cream and a little more acidity and texture. Bottled with 164 g/l of sugar with an acidity of 4.4 grams per litre and 14.4 degrees alcohol. Despite a temperature of only 2 degrees on May 2, the picking began in 9 September finished 13 October.Tasted: 15 May 2008Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:AB | $5850.00 | 750ml | estimated retail |
