Penfolds St. Henri Shiraz 2002
South Australia, AustraliaSt. Henri is meant to be the antithesis of Grange. It's all about texture and ripe floral fruit unadorned with new oak. For some reason the 2002 plays up the pepper, resin and coriander and smoky meat notes well above the fruit. On the palate there is some acidity poking through with bits of leather and olives. This wine always improves with age, and not five years, but more like ten to fifteen, so there is still some hope it will fatten up as the fruit comes roundTasted: 20 August 2007Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $49.99 | 750ml | specialty |
