Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle 2003
Hermitage, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceVery spicy, black cherry, black berry jam, marmalade, roasted coffee, floral nose - this has big ripe fruit. Rich, dry, moderately tannic entry but with a sense of elegance. Very juicy fruit flavours with black cherry, plum filled with licorice, spicy garrigue, waxy, gamey, cherry raisin flavours. At 14.5% alcohol, the wine has good finesse and big fruit and quite high acidity. Needs at least 5-7 years to mature in bottle; perhaps a decade will be required. Somewhat of a stylistic departure for la Chapelle but an excellent effort.Tasted: 26 April 2006Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $149.00 | 750ml | specialty listing |
