Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle 1988

Hermitage, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceWaxy, gamey, sweaty leather nose with peppery, compost, menthol and roasted pepper notes mixed with licorice root, cigar and floral aromas. Rich, round, slightly fat style with some light tannin. Big cigar, compost, peppery, five-spice and prune flavours spiked with orange peel and menthol flavours. Warm, slightly acidic finish but elegant. Shows good aromatics and flavour but with some cool fruit tinges. Broad but short, perhaps not the best bottle but fine. Generally a bit richer and finer than the 1989.Tasted: 24 April 2006Tasted by: Stuart TobePrices:
