Antinori Solaia 2000

Tuscany, ItalyComing from the vineyard of the same name which is situated next to the Tignanello vineyard. Solaia is a combination of Cabernet Sauvignon (75%), Cabernet Franc (5%), and Sangiovese (20%). The colour is inky dark. The nose intense with black pepper, spicy clove, smoky licorice, green bean, cassis and violet. The flavours mix smoky cassis jam, blackberry, orange spice, cherry flavours with a coffee, vanilla, and cassis in the finish. Rich round and concentrated with big ripe tannins and very good acidity balance. It is warm, unctuous and big but nicely textured and will definitely improve with five years of cellaring.Tasted: 08 September 2003Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
