Top 10 : Booths to Visit at VIWF

By: Treve Ring & Anthony Gismondi
Ten wineries not to be missed at the 39th Vancouver International Wine Festival

There are more than 180 wineries at this year’s Vancouver International Wine Festival.

There are more than 180 wineries at this year’s Vancouver International Wine Festival. While theme region Canada is strong with 76 wineries representing, there are 15 other countries participating. With each producer pourig four wines for the public, and one extra for the trade, there are approximately 900 wines available on the tasting room floor. It’s not possible to taste them all (even for us!) so we’ve selected 10 booths, from 10 regions that you should be sure to visit, along with one of our favourite wines from the producer (*vintages may be different on the show floor).

For details on the 54 festival events this week, check out the interactive Festival at a Glance.

Watch for our live posts on Instagram from the seminars, mingers, lunches, dinners, masterclasses, lunches, and International Tasting Room floor.

Every week Treve Ring and Anthony Gismondi collaborate on our Top Ten list, released on Thursday morning, often with a timely theme. If you count carefully the list will more than likely exceed ten names but only because we believe if any wine is tied by a score that makes our list it should be included. We know many of you are wine savvy and can do your own sleuthing to locate our weekly picks but for those who asked: BCLS means it is sold in government retail stores; when we say private wine shops we mean it could be in any private wine shop or liquor retail store (LRS); winery direct means check with the winery online. If it’s not sold in BC we usually try and give you a suggested retail price. Prices change hourly in BC – the price we post is what we are given at publication.
