Nautilus Estate Pinot Noir 2019

Marlborough, South Island, New ZealandWinemaker Clive Jones has been around Nautilus for decades and has always been focused on making high quality wines. This Southern Valleys pinot pitches a complex mix of aromas, mixing earth and dark plums with spice. It is an elegant expression but not at the expense of mouth filling fruit and a persistent aftertaste. It is one of the best ever vintages for Kiwi pinot noir. The clones range from 114, 115, and 5, to 667 and 777. A small amount (20%) of whole bunch fruit is added to the fermentation after a 7-12 day cold soak. The wine is pressed off into new and older French oak barriques (25% new), where it remained without stirring until February 2020.Tasted: 13 April 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
