Nautilus Estate Pinot Noir 2013

Marlborough, South Island, New ZealandIt's very easy to like this pinot noir made by the master of Marlborough Clive Jones. It is of course 100 pinot noir that mixes a clones 114, 115, 5, 667, 777 and Abel. The fruit comes off four vineyard sites in the Southern Valleys sub region. It's all hand harvested, there is no crushing to promote a portion of whole berries in the ferment and the wine is fermented wild after a week-long cold soak. The wine is aged in a mix of new and older French oak Barriques, where it sits undisturbed for about a year. The colour is light the nose amazingly fragrant with a richness of red fruit aromas spice and twiggy forest floor notes. The attack is sweet and silky with lovely depth of flavours and mouth-filling fruit. The finish is long and a touch warm with cardamom spice. Delicious to say the least and very food friendly, think British Columbia grilled salmon.Tasted: 24 July 2014Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
