Penfolds Cabernet Shiraz Bin 389 2021

South Australia, AustraliaA near even split of cabernet sauvignon (53%) and shiraz (47%) from across McLaren Vale, Coonawarra, Barossa Valley, Wrattonbully, and Padthaway. This is aged in the barrels used for the previous vintage of Grange (American hogsheads, 37% new), earning it the nickname "baby Grange." The cabernet component shines right now, offering cassis, graphite, lavendar, and minty herbs, alongside a backing of peppery spice, eucalyptus, and brambles, all framed by cedar, vanilla, and dill. It's a remarkably dense, concentrated wine, that's just beginning to open up. Give this a vigorous decant or tuck away for a few years for this to be at its best.Tasted: 22 August 2024Tasted by: Prices:
