Penfolds Cabernet Shiraz Bin 389 2005

South Australia, AustraliaA lot of great things have been written about this wine out of the gate but we were less than impressed at this stage with its green herbal tobacco leaf nose that mixes with black olive, coffee bean, green bean, peppery, resin, meaty aromas. The palate is dry and tart with green cedar, tobacco, black olive, resin, vanilla, coffee, rooty, cassis, leafy flavours. Somewhat unbalanced at this juncture but the acidity seems to so prevalent it is hard to believe this wine will come back into balance. Disappointing at this stage, we will try it again in a year or two to see how it has evolved.Tasted: 12 December 2008Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
