Tommasi Poggio al Tufo Rompicollo 2018

Maremma, Tuscany, ItalyA 60/40 mix of sangiovese and cabernet sauvignon is grown on the Pitigliano estate. Expect ripe aromas of black and red fruits with dried thyme, rosemary, and baking spices. The palate is weighty with smoke, rich dark plum, and black currant cut with black raspberries wrapped in round, supple tannins, finishing vibrant. It is aged in for 12 months in 65 hl Slavonian oak casks. The alcohol is a modest 13 percent. It is the flagship wine of the Poggio al Tufo project, the first wine the Tommasi family made in the Maremma. Bistecca Fiorentina or a mushroom wild boar dish would be a good match. Good value.Tasted: 24 March 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
