Fort Berens Meritage Reserve 2019

British Columbia, CanadaThe 2019 Meritage is the first all-estate blend from the home Dry Creek Vineyard in Lillooet. The mix is 85/15 merlot and cabernet franc, hand picked from select rows grown at low cropping levels. The wine was aged in 72 percent French oak for 15 months, of which 43 percent is new. The style is relaxed, northern, and savoury, with spicy raspberry and red plum. The oak covers whatever the Lillooet terroir is at this point, so maybe another year or two in a bottle won’t hurt. For now, the winery is suggesting slow-cooked beef stew or vegetarian lasagna; I like that notion.Tasted: 01 February 2023Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
