Altesino Brunello di Montalcino 2015

Montalcino, Siena, Tuscany, ItalyThis Brunello brings together fruit from the vineyards of Altesino, Macina, Pianezzine, and Castelnuovo dell’Abate in the Val d’Arbia DOC, across 21 hectares of tufaceous limestone soils and Alberese. The wine spends a minimum of two years in oak barrels before bottling, and at least four months maturation in bottle prior to release. There's a lovely complexity to this confident wine, one that takes its time to reveal itself, showing secondary layers of pipe tobacco, dried cherry, dried florals, menthol, leather, all threaded with burnished orange rind, and wrapped with ample, finely firm, well-integrated tannins. This lingers with mineral salts on the lengthy finish. Drinking beautifully now, as expected, and will still hold over the next few years easy.Tasted: 16 July 2021Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
