Altesino Brunello di Montalcino 1999

Montalcino, Siena, Tuscany, ItalyHuge gamey, ripe black cherry, plum, licorice nose with orange rind, floral, smoky aromas -- very ripe. Rich, ripe and quite intense on the palate with ripe but dry, grainy tannins. Intense licorice, smoky, cherry, plum pudding and mocha, peppery flavours with more orange peel and clove on the finish. Very young, needs 7-10 years but certainly ripe and worth putting away. Serve now with lamb and several hours of time in a decanter.Tasted: 27 July 2004Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
