Torres Grans Muralles 2016

Conca de Barbera, Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainFrom DO Conca de Barberà, and 450-470m, this blends garnacha, cariñena, querol, monastrell, and garrò from the llicorella and granite soils of the region. Torres has been working hard to recover near-extinct local varieties like querol and garrò, revitalizing vines and plantings to showcase in small lot wines of place like this. Each parcel was vinfied separately in small stainless tanks. Aging varies depending on the variety, but averages 18 months in new thin-grained French oak barrels. This is an alluring blend, layered with perfumed purple and blue florals, wild scrubby herbs, rock salts, wild berries, on a textural, lengthy palate. Acidity is elevated, and tannins are slightly sticky. Though this is a 14.5% wine, all is in check, for a very balanced whole. Drinking well now, and with life ahead.Tasted: 09 December 2020Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
