Torres Grans Muralles 1997
Penedès, Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainA super red wine made from a selection of ancient Catalan grape varieties including Monastrell, Garnacha Tinta, Garró, Samsó and Cariñena. The grapes are grown in a single vineyard or 36 hectare pago with slate and stone soils and aged 12 months in new oak. Expect a deep red colour with an intense spicy red berry nose. Terrific fragrance of pure blackberry-plum fruit with gentle herb, spice and vanilla. Weighty, dense and currently tannic but this will age gracefully for a long time. Wonderful plummy, port-like fruit on the finish. Excellent length. Best 2004 to 2010.
