Torres Grans Muralles 2009

Conca de Barbera, Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainA preview of the 2009 Grans Muralles revealed a new secret weapon at Torres the querol grape. Colour acidity and freshness are now a big part of the Gran Muralles blend and its making a big difference. In 2009 querol as much as 25 percent joins garnacha, cariñena, monastrell and garró to craft perhaps the best ever Grans Muralles. The colour is black, the nose fragrant with stony mineral black fruit nuances, but the key to this wine is its mid-palate elegance and balance. Delicious and packed with style it has the grace and balance to age for a decade and beyond. Drink it now with a grilled steak or wait and watch this develop into something amazing by 2020.
