Croft Vintage Port 2017
Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalBack to back vintages in Port is a rare as it gets but it will be fun to follow 2016 and 2017 as they head down the road for the next 50-100 years. It’s a highly seductive Croft in 2017, now fully restored to its former glory under the hands of Fladgate Partnership. Dense, rich, dry, and packed with sweet tannins, this juicy, youthful black and red-fruited port is exotic, intoxicating, and only a baby. One of the rewards of ageing is you can better identify those wines that will go the distance and this is one of them. Climate change challenges notwithstanding, I love this wine picked on 31 August, the earliest start date for over 70 years.Tasted: 02 November 2019Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $125.99 | 750ml | private wine shops |
