Croft Vintage Port 2011
Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalThe Taylor Fonseca folks are busy fine tuning the Croft vineyard and grape processing and it's obvious in the wine. In 2011 the tannins are soft and the fruit spicy and tropical fruit all with a dash of mint and dried herbs that jumps out of the glass. There is an exuberance of tropical fruit before the tannin kicks in and bits of sweet caramel. They tannins are vintage port firm but the fruit is sufficient to carry the day with fine underlying acidity and that Croft sweetness/ balance. The 2011 vintage signals the return of Croft back to top form. Drink through 2050.Tasted: 28 July 2013Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:AB | $100.00 | 750ml | private wine stores |
