Croft Vintage Port 2009
Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalDeep black colour. The nose is an aromatic open mix of liquorice, spicy, minty cherry jam aromas. The attack is round, with fine underlying acidity and that Croft sweetness/ balance. Not as concentrated as the Fonseca or Taylor but it has an easy likeability that suggest you can drink this sooner than later and enjoy it. Rich warm, opulent and fat it is a good example of the warm '09 vintage. Certainly Croft is back now that it is under the control of the Taylor Fladgate group. Drink through 2040. Tasted again in 2014 and is showing to be even better and more complex than at release.Tasted: 03 November 2011Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $130.00 | 750ml | private wine stores |
