Clos du Soleil Fumé Blanc 2017

British Columbia, CanadaA mix of fruit from Cawston, Keremeos, and Oliver explains the BC VQA British Columbia designation, and perhaps the ripeness that creeps into this stylish 83/17 blend of sauvignon blanc and sémillon. The wine gets a small amount of wood contact, more to justify the name (we think) then the actual style. It’s full-bodied and aromatic, but smoky not so much, at least in 2017. It’s rich and textured with several layers of citrus drenched flavours of pears, fresh cut green apples, grapefruit pith and lees. A perfect match to barbecued citrus chicken, new tomatoes with mozzarella and basil, or new carrots and peas. That said, this will take on fall and winter dishes equally well now, and five years from now.Tasted: 23 July 2018Tasted by: Prices:
