Region del Valle Central, ChileExpect a vibrant, fruity nose of blueberry, blackberry and blackcurrant, with pipe tobacco and savoury boldo the latter being the South American version of garrigue. This 2015 is much more refined than previous outings, led by the wood fading into the background, and an alcohol level capped at a respectable 14 degrees. The fruit is a mix of Rapel and Colchagua Valleys, with 10 percent merlot to soften the edges. Only 55 percent of the wine was aged in older French oak for one year. Still firm and with tannins to disperse but nothing a steak won’t deal with. Modern and fresh, this is a good one and getting better in the bottle.Tasted: 14 September 2018Tasted by: Prices:

Region del Valle Central, ChileExpect an exuberant nose of blueberry, blackberry and blackcurrant flecked with floral, smoky pipe tobacco and a whack of boldo. Intense yet refined, this is solid value for the price and a fine improvement on previous versions. The fruit is a mix of Rapel and Colchagua Valleys sites with 10 percent merlot to soften the edges. Only 55 percent of the wine was aged in older French oak for one year. Still firm and with tannins to disperse but nothing a steak won’t deal with. Region del Valle Central, ChileThick on the palate with juicy blackberry, blackcurrant, inky plum, smoked meats, pipe tobacco, dried violets, and dried desert scrub herbs. This bold cabernet sauvignon is much more refined in 2015 than in previous vintages, with the wood fading more into the background, and the alcohol fieriness capped at a respectable 14 degrees. Cab sauv from Rapel and Colchagua Valleys, plus 10 percent merlot, go into this powerful red, one that 55 percent spent in French wood (1st, 2nd, 3rd use) for a year prior to bottling. Tannins are big and grippy but softened, while cedar and mint scent the briefer finish. Well done to freshen and modernize this compact red.Tasted: 18 June 2018Tasted by: Prices:
