Fort Berens Pinot Noir 2015

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThere is lots to like here if you get past the meaty, earthy, reduced notes upon pulling its synthetic cork. Four different pinot clones, all estate grown, are aged in French oak barrels including 20 percent new, for 9 months. The flavours remain earthy with lots of peppery cherry fruit but with a strong meaty, barnyard undercurrent. The winery recommends stewed lamb, grilled salmon or mushroom risotto and we would add about 45 minutes in a decanter to blow off some of the reduction. A move to screwcap would likely put this wine into the BC pinot game.Tasted: 20 October 2017Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
