Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis is the best Pétales yet, appearing to be less of a second label and more of a stand alone wine from Osoyoos Larose. The 2013 vintage helps to give this a serious tone full of savoury, spiced black fruit aromas. The palate mixes bitter black cherry and espresso notes with bits of tobacco, grilled meats, cherries, and smoke. Not quite as firm and dry as the Osoyoos Larose, suggesting it's time to start drinking this. Perfect for grilled steak. The blend is merlot dominated, with cabernet sauvignon, malbec, cabernet franc and petit verdot.Tasted: 22 June 2017Tasted by: Prices:

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe second label to flagship Osoyoos Larose, Pétales is meant to be drunk now, while waiting for the big brother to hit his prime. This is pretty serious as is, with chisled and serious black fruit, bitter cherry, espresso, smoked tobacco, medicinal cherry and grilled meats, tightly framed and structured. That said, amidst the drying, firm tannins, there is a playful cushion of anise-seeded black fruit that says "drink me now!", and rightfully so, alongside roast beef, and preferably after a decant. Medium bodied (13.5 percent), this blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon, malbec, cabernet franc and petit verdot certainly sits in the savoury side of the southern Okanagan. This little brother is growing into a man.Tasted: 27 February 2017Tasted by: Prices:
