Monte Antico Toscano 2011
Santa Lucia, Pisa, Tuscany, ItalyYear after year, this value IGT Toscana impresses with its consistent, accessible showing. Even more so since they moved to screw cap with the 2010 vintage. A baby-Super Tuscan, if you will, with sangiovese, merlot and cabernet sauvignon tipped together into an age-appropriate (2011 is current release and ready to drink now), light/medium bodied, finely structured red. With that bitter Italian cut, this brings black cherry, leather, anise, smoked plum and dried blackberry to a time-smoothed palate, one with ample but soft, downy tannins. The finish is short, with bitter espresso, but suitable for spaghetti and meatballs or lasagne.Tasted: 23 January 2017Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $16.49 | 750ml | BCLS |
