Quails' Gate Pinot Noir 2014

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaPinot noir is the flagship red at Quails’ Gate and under winemaker Nikki Callaway, it's reaching a level of elegance we have not seen before. The 2014 comes with an attractive, fragrant and ripe strawberry/cherry pinot nose that continues on the palate. Callaway reveals some spice and dried herbs, yet maintains a perfect 13 percent alcohol. Juicy and fruity with complexity. Most of the fruit comes off 20-year-old vines all hand harvested in 2014 in early October. There’s a five-day cold soak prior to a ferment started with mix of wild and cultivated yeasts. After 14 to 21 days the fruit is pressed and aged in French oak barrels for 10 months before racking and blending. Well done and just under 6500 cases. Super value.Tasted: 31 August 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
